Acute Global Limited Completes Acquisition of Western Insurance Botswana

Acute Global Limited is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of 100 percent of the issued share capital in Western Insurance Botswana (Pty) Ltd, marking a significant milestone in the Group’s long term growth strategy within the financial services sector.

Following the completion of the transaction, Western Insurance Botswana has been rebranded to WestSure Insurance Botswana, reflecting a renewed brand identity and a clear strategic direction under new ownership. In addition, Western Life Insurance Botswana has been rebranded to WestLife Insurance Botswana, aligning both entities under a unified and forward-looking brand architecture.

The acquisition was executed through Boago Emerging Markets (Pty) Ltd, a special purpose vehicle established specifically for this transaction. Boago Emerging Markets is wholly controlled by Acute Investments Holdings (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Acute Global Limited. The transaction received unconditional approval from the Competition and Consumer Authority of Botswana in December 2020, following a comprehensive regulatory review

This strategic acquisition reflects Acute Global Limited’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the insurance industry while supporting citizen empowerment and long term value creation. The transaction brings a well established short term insurance business under local ownership, while maintaining continuity of service delivery and broker relationships within the Botswana market.

Acute Global Limited intends to build on the strong foundation established by Western Insurance Botswana, leveraging enhanced governance, capital support, and strategic oversight to strengthen product offerings, operational excellence, and customer focused solutions across both the general and life insurance businesses.

The rebranding to WestSure Insurance Botswana and WestLife Insurance Botswana represents the beginning of a new chapter focused on trust, stability, and sustainable growth within Botswana’s evolving insurance landscape.
